Pamela Keske
I moved from art as a hobby to art as a vocation in 2008 when I created five pen-and-ink folk icons for Carla Waterman’s book, Songs of Assent. Art gave me a way to hold onto hope as nothing else could. I continue to create using pen, watercolor, oil pastels, and acrylics. I have recently painted twenty pictures that represent God’s story from Creation to New Creation for a confirmation curriculum. My latest venture, Lifescapes, features custom artwork on commission.

Pam did a wonderful job of creating portraits of my childhood cabins and lakeshores. She took old and not totally clear pictures and was able to step into our family memories and set us all back in time. Tears were shed by all who received copies. She was easy to work with, sent rough drafts along the way to make sure she was catching the vision and made a few artistic changes that balanced the picture without compromising the overall view. Would absolutely work with her again.

Pam did a beautiful job. I have the artwork hanging in my bedroom. It is the first thing I see in the morning, and the last thing I see before I go to sleep.

The experience of creating art with Pam was incredibly inspiring, fulfilling and gratifying. The process allowed me to be a co-creator not just an admirer although that too was present because of Pam’s beautiful creation! I brought to her Henri Nouwen’s formulation of the Christian life as Chosen, Blessed, Broken and Given and asked her to paint something at least somewhat abstract to illustrate each word. I am absolutely thrilled with the end result, it exceeded my expectations, and the process was far more exciting and enjoyable than I could have imagined! I had a vision but little to substantiate it. Through many discussions we were able to flesh it out and then Pam made it come alive as she took to the canvas! She would send me photos along the way to ask for input and was never defensive and always accommodating if I wanted something changed. She fully caught my vision and we were able to align each step of the way. I am typically someone who is more comfortable working with facts and data but I told Pam during the process that I felt like an artist! It was such joy for me and Pam’s paintings are a treasure!
